on the campus of The University High School in Parkville,
a few kilometres north of the Melbourne CBD. To view

here.
Public Transport
The area is well served by public transport. Arriving by train at Melbourne
Central Station, take the exit to Elizabeth Street and board a North Coburg
tram (Number 18 or 19). Alight at Tram Stop 11 for the Royal Parade entrance
to GTAC.
School Buses and
Parking
There is provision, on campus, for parking two minibuses at the entrance to
GTAC and parking spaces for three staff cars at the rear of the South Wing.
Access to parking on campus is from the Story Street entrance to University
High School. Schools arriving by coach are required to set down students
in Story Street, at the front entrance to University High School. Coaches
are to return at a designated time to pick up students.
Private Transport
and Parking
The parking of private cars is not permitted on campus. Parking opportunities
in the surrounding streets are limited. The Royal Melbourne Hospital Underground
Car Park offers convenient parking for GTAC visitors. Another car park
is located at University Square.
On Arrival
Visitors are required to report to the Reception Desk, register their attendance
and pick up their “reserved pre-paid ticket” for their event
if required. Teachers are required to complete a School Group Registration
Form. It is assumed that the home schoolteacher will have a list of students
in attendance and contact details in the event of an emergency. Students
are to place their school bags in the cloakrooms provided. Each student
is expected to have a notebook and a pen. Students are advised to keep
wallets on their person at all times. Mobile phones and other electronic
devices are to be switched off. Other visitors may wish to deposit large
bags in the cloakrooms provided.
Laboratories
The consumption of food and/or drink is only permitted in designated venues.
No food and/or drink are to be taken into the teaching laboratories. Visitors
are required to wear protective clothing when undertaking laboratory work.
They should also ensure that long hair is tied back and that footwear is
appropriate.
Hospitality
Light refreshments and a buffet lunch are included in some GTAC Programs. On
other occasions visitors will find that local venues offer a wide variety
of food choices. The Union Building at the University of Melbourne contains
many food outlets that serve a wide variety of food without breaking the
budget. Lygon Street and the Victoria Market are but a short walk away.
School groups are asked to have lunch off the school campus at the University
of Melbourne. GTAC will escort visiting school groups to the Union Building
if required. Supervision of students during the lunch break is the responsibility
of the home school teacher(s).
Requests
Every effort will be made to make your visit to GTAC
a productive and personally rewarding experience. Some
programs can be modified to suit individual or school
requirements. Specific requests should be made at the
time of booking.
